Description - Description: Indonesia’s national health insurance system (Jaminan Kesehatan Nasional, JKN) has continued to face deficits since its establishment in 2014. Partly due to heavy subsidization and high payouts, the JKN also suffers from a high claims ratio - the ratio between expenditure on health services and revenue – which has consistently surpassed 100% since its establishment in 2014. The overall claims ratio from 2014 to 2019 was 107%, reaching 113% and 115% in 2017 and 2018, respectively.
