Description - Description: NTNU currently owns a MAGNETOM 7T Terra MR system that was installed in 2019 (final take-over 29.sept 2020). The MR system has a so-called "dual-mode", which means that the system can be run in two different modes: one-channel transmit ( 1TX) or 8-channel parallel transmit (pTX). The 1TX mode is CE marked as medical-technical equipment and the MR pictures taken under this mode are certified for diagnostic use. pTX modus is currently only approved for research use. 1TX mode has some challenges around what is called B1+ inhomogencies, which means that the image quality varies in different places in the image, for example there are often "shadows" in the cerebellum.
