Description - Description: The small lock was put into operation in 1896 and the large lock in 1914. The entire Holtenau lock system was completed in its current form around 1920.The development of the terrain relief in the period after 1945 was reconstructed from base maps, aerial photographs and survey plans. In 2023, the contractual clearing areas were subjected to magnetic and electro-magnetic sounding from -12 m above sea level to -1 m above sea level and the adjacent embankment areas with a electromagnetic sounding from -1m above sea level to +1m above sea level.
