Description - Description From Interreg and Via Belgica, the municipality of Voerendaal will start a cross-border landscape project based on the Villa Voerendaal, "the most impressive villa in the Roman Netherlands." The history spans the Iron Age (fort), Roman pe riod (monumental Roman villa complex from the 2nd-3rd century), late Roman period (fortified tower), and the Early Middle Ages (cemetery). The excavation is currently located under an agricultural field where is always grown (will remain that way in the future). The excavation is called “unique in its completeness”.
