Draft RFP for Hiring of Agency to conduct Mid Media Event/Nukkad Nataks in 96 locations covering 4 blocks of Gumla and 2 blocks of Lohardaga District of Jharkhand About Centre for Catalyzing Change Centre for Catalyzing Change (C3) is a national level non-governmental organisation that works with a visionary zeal to enable women and girls in India to be fully empowered, equipped to realize their rights, access opportunities and achieve gender equality. C3 has remained focused on one single mission – to make the lives of girls and women in India better. By enabling an environment which provides an equal opportunity to them. By ensuring that they grow up as educated, informed, confident citizens of India; live dignified and healthy lives; and emerge as leaders at the frontline. This is what C3 strives to achieve – “For EveryGirl, EveryWoman, EveryWhere”. Project Background The project titled ‘Engaging Boys: Balance for the Better” intends that boys develop gender equal attitudes, demonstrate gender equal behaviour and counter gender stereotypes in their communities leading to a balance in the genders. One of the core objectives of the project is to build confidence and self-esteem in boys, support them to appreciate their qualities and abilities, life skills and attitudes and improve their capability in being gender egalitarian in constructive and creative relationships. The intended outcomes are: (a) adolescent boys have better understanding of gender and relationships, (b) there is increased capability among adolescent boys in being gender egalitarian in constructive and creative relationships, and (c) there is improvement in adolescent boys’ understanding and appreciation of diversity of masculinity and male roles. Another core objective of the project is to empower communities to become gender equal and support community level actions to promote gender equality. The intended outcomes for this are (a) awareness about gender issues is built at the community level, (b) incidents/cases of violence against women & girls come down and (c) adolescents take effective community action/ initiatives for their rights and counter gender stereotype. The geographical target area for the project is all villages and panchayats of Basia, Palkot, Dumri-Jari, Bharno blocks of Gumla district and Kisko-Peshrar and Kuru-Kairo blocks of Lohardaga district in in Jharkhand. Objective of the Assignment The overall purpose of assignment is to stage street plays (Nukkad Natak) to generate an awareness regarding role of men and boys in countering gender stereotypes so that they take collective action to bring gender equality at family and community level. Organisation of nukkad natak also intends to provide an opportunity to boys and men to interact and generate discussion on the issues presented in the street plays/nukkad natak regarding role of men and boys in bringing about gender equality. Primary Target Group The street plays/nukkad nataks based on the aforesaid theme should target the following groups: youth and men in the community Members of Community based organisations namely Mahila Mandals, Panchayati Raj Institutions and agencies working at local level on child rights protection School going children, adolescents (girls and boys) and their parents Target Area The street plays/nukkad nataks will be conducted in 96 villages of 6 blocks covered under the project namely Basia, Palkot, Dumri and Bharno blocks in Gumla and Kisko-Peshrar and Kuru- Kairo blocks in Lohardaga district. Venue will be community spaces in the village, Panchayat bhawan, Community hall, school premises, school ground, etc. in the target area. Scope of Work The selected agency will carry out this assignment under the overall guidance of the State Head and Senior Program Officer and in coordination with the Program Officer of concerned project. The field based project team shall extend support in local coordination for the events at the village level. The assignment responsibilities include the following: Finalisation of script/storyline for the street play/nukkad natak by taking into consideration the local socio-cultural context Conduct a total of 96 street plays/nukkad nataks in assigned villages in target area Conduct one demo show in Project Office before the project team and other stakeholders and incorporate the input accordingly Deliverables: Finalise script of the street play/nukkad natak Demo show in Project Office for feedback and input Detailed Work Plan to conduct street plays/nukkad nataks from 25 February 2024 to 15th March 2024 A comprehensive narrative report within 05 calendar days following the completion of the street plays/nukkad nataks with relevant photographs Mode of Payment Centre for Catalyzing Change will pay the amount in four instalments (breakup is given below) upon completion of the assignment. Upon signing of contract and conduct of first demo show- 20% of the total fee Upon incorporation of inputs received on demo show, submission of detail plan and completion of 50 street plays/nukkad nataks – 40% of the remaining payable fee Upon completion of remaining 50 street plays/nukkad nataks – 20% of the remaining payable fee Upon submission of narrative report with photographs – remaining 20% of the payable fee Qualification of the Agency The agency should have a minimum of three years of experience in conducting street plays/nukkad nataks. Experience of conducting street plays/nukkad nataks at local level is desirable.
