Description - Description: The Weser-Ems region is 14,986 km² in size and has around 2.6 million inhabitants in the western part of Lower Saxony. It is bordered in the west by the border with the Netherlands and the Ems, in the east by the Weser and the Diepholz district and in the north by the North Sea. The 17 local authorities in the Weser-Ems region have been working closely together within the framework of regional policy since the 1990s. In 2013, the Bioeconomy Strategy Council was set up by the Working Group of Chief Administrative Officers, in which actors from business, science and administration work together.
