Description - Description: Ethiopia’s public extension system offers extensive agricultural information and training, but remote rural smallholders—especially women—still struggle to access up-to-date knowledge. The 8028 Farmer Hotline, launched in 2014 by t he Agricultural Transformation Institute (ATI) and partners, is an Interactive Voice Response and SMS platform providing tailored agronomic advice. Despite its reach, only about 20% of callers are women. Expanding women’s access to the Hotline could help close the gender gap in agricultural extension and improve their outcomes.
