Description - Description: In order to prevent the spread of Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD), a regulation was issued in 2017 that all salt pans in the Nordfjella area should be closed to deer, reindeer and moose. The closure took place by installing gates that were fastened together around the salt stones. In total, around 700 salt sites are closed. The grid systems require annual inspection and maintenance. The vast majority of the gate installations are far from the road and they are spread over very large areas geographically.
