TENDER NOTICE FOR Introducing Solar Pay Per Use Irrigation Models in Mint Cropping System in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh Background: Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), and two international companies under develoPPP.de framework have made a strategic alliance and is expected to directly benefit small-holder farmers by enhancing production systems and strengthening social capital through Farmer Producer Organisations (FPO), while contributing to a comprehensive transformation of mint farming sector in Uttar Pradesh, India. In this context, an Ag-Tech agency is required to introduce innovative and entrepreneurial solar irrigation solutions and services for Mint, Rice and Potato crops covering up to 750 farmers in Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh. Objectives: I. To set up 50 solar irrigation pumps of 3 BHP each in combination of submersible and surface pumps. II. To create 15 individual farmer-based enterprises preferably 1-2 women lead based on solar “pay per use” irrigation models. III. To reduce the cost of irrigation and migrate at least 750 farmers from diesel pump-based irrigation to solar irrigation system. Key tasks of the assignment: 1. Feasibility of introducing solar irrigation system based on local agricultural needs and water resource availability. 2. Investment in solar irrigation equipment and its installation including borewell construction, testing, and maintenance of irrigation systems. 3. Development of business plan for each solar pay per use franchisee 4. Monitoring and evaluation of project outcomes and impacts.
