Description - Carrizo Cane is an invasive weed along the Rio Grande that creates an ideal habitat for cattle fever tick survival and hinders visibility for both United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Animal and Plant Health 5Inspection Service (APHIS), Ve terinary Services (VS) mounted inspectors and DHS-Customs and Border Protection (CBP).   Mechanical topping of the cane at 3 feet provides immediate visibility of the Rio Grande for VS and CBP personnel, eliminates cattle fever tick habitat, and increases the impact of the insect biological control agents released by USDA Agricultural Research Service (ARS). The USDA needs support in the topping of approximately 200 river miles of Carrizo Cane
