The plots owned by De Vlaamse Waterweg NV are mainly located outside the dike on the lef t bank of the Rupel, just up the village center of Klein-Willebroek. The site has an industrial past (including shipyards) and is contaminated with a complex cocktail from parameters, including asbestos (free fibers, hazardous waste), heavy metals, suit and pfas in the fixed part of the earth and arsenic and sulfates in the groundwater.
