Description - The Stationsplein tunnel is a road tunnel of 335 m with two traffic tubes, each with 2 lanes. The tunnel is located in the Schipholweg under the bus station directly in front of Leiden Central station and was built and opened in the mid-1990s. Resear ch into other works of art from that period has shown that the concrete construction has a lower resistance to fire than expected, because the concrete used from that period spalls when subjected to high temperatures. This was the reason to conduct heat tests in the tunnel in 2020. Based on the outcome of the tests, the tunnel manager has decided that the tunnel must be lined with fire-resistant material.
