The Taiwanese government actively procures minerals and mining products and services to support various infrastructure projects and industrial needs. This procurement activity generates billions of dollars annually, attracting both local and international companies.

The government primarily focuses on procuring essential minerals like limestone, dolomite, silica sand, and gravel. Additionally, it purchases services such as mineral exploration, mine development, and environmental management.

The Ministry of Economic Affairs and its subordinate agencies, the Bureau of Mines and the Central Geological Survey, oversee minerals and mining procurement in Taiwan. These entities manage tender processes, evaluate bidders, and award contracts.

Major local companies like Taiwan Cement Corporation and Asia Cement Corporation have historically secured significant portions of government contracts. Additionally, international firms like Caterpillar and Sandvik have also been successful in winning bids.
