In The Sand Bed Building At The Thessaloniki Water Treatment Facility (Wtp) There Are 9 Twin Sand Beds 2X3.15M Wide And 12.5M Long And 2 Single 3.15Mx12.5M Sand Beds. The Nine (9) Twin Beds Are Single-Layer Filled With Sand Of A Specific Grain Size And The Two (2) Single Beds Are Also Single-Layer But Filled With Zeolite. The Maintenance Of The Eneth Sand Beds, Which Includes The Transfer Of The Sand Out Of The Bed, Its Double Passage Through The Conveying Jets, Washing In The Sand Washer And Surface Scraping, Results In The Loss Of A Small Amount Of Sand Each Time (Calculated In 1- 2%/Bed) With The Result That In Some Beds The Height Of The 100-110Cm Sand Layer That Covers Each Bed Has Been Marginally Reduced, Which Has Been Set As The Operational Sand Level Range In The Refining Beds. It Is Therefore Deemed Necessary To Supply New Sand Approved In Accordance With The En 12904 Standard For Water Treatment In Order To Supplement The Older Sand.
