Description - Tenders are invited for Recruitment of a National Consultant to capitalize on formalization with a view to developing an operational strategy to boost the Artisanal and Small-Scale Mining sub-sector. The ACP-EU Development Minerals Program is a ca pacity building program which aims to profile and improve the management of Development Minerals (industrial minerals, building materials, dimension stones and semi-precious stones) . The program is an initiative of the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), funded by the European Union and UNDP, and implemented by UNDP. Development Minerals are minerals and materials that are mined, processed, manufactured and used domestically in industries such as construction, manufacturing and agriculture. They have a high degree of economic ties and use close to where the product is extracted. The mining of Development Minerals has important implications for sustainable development. However, to date they have not received sufficient attention for their potential impact on livelihoods and few development programs have provided support to this mining sub-sector.
