Description - Since 2005, the Nanga Mai Awards have celebrated innovation, excellence and achievement in Aboriginal education within NSW public schools and communities. The word Nanga Mai is an Eora word meaning to dream. The awards are held annually and attended by the NSW Department of Education senior executive team including the Secretary, Deputy Secretaries and Executive Directors from around the state. The awards are supported by the NSW Aboriginal Education Consultative Group Inc. and the Aboriginal Education Council, and organised by the Department’s Aboriginal Outcomes and Partnerships Directorate. The Nanga Mai Awards support and align with the Aboriginal Education Policy, the NSW Department of Education and NSW AECG Inc. ~~Walking Together, Working Together~~ Partnership Agreement, the Alice Springs (Mparntwe) Education Declaration 2019 and Closing the Gap strategy.
